Up to recently, Canal+ Overseas owned the whole broadcast chain and were a major satellite broadcaster. But once fiber optic internet and Over-The-Top content services started spreading and ensuring an even better image quality, Canal+ Overseas decided to innovate their services and take the leap to OTT broadcasting as well. This meant launching a new, open, Over-The-Top set-top box and giving up some of the control they used to have over to Internet Providers.
